Having just gotten through the hectic February and March, I'm exhausted and back-aching. I truly miss the good sleep I got at the confinement center. Back home, I'm swamped with work and housework, and I feel like I'm almost a god.

I highly recommend the Flushing Sunshine Baby Confinement Center. As a native of Fuzhou, confinement is essential. I made the arduous journey from Philadelphia to Flushing Hospital to give birth, and the delivery room there is truly wonderful.

The confinement center sent a car to pick us up from the hospital, and it arrived in just 5 minutes. I stayed in Branch 2, and the room was beautifully decorated, all white furniture and white gauze curtains. The owner has a great eye for style. I had a standard room with a small refrigerator for breast milk storage and a balcony, so it felt wonderful to bask in the sun.

I initially planned to breastfeed exclusively, but then I became so exhausted that I settled on half breast milk and half formula. The small refrigerator is really useful; it can store plenty of breast milk. The room also comes with a health pot, and the confinement caregiver mixes confinement water for me every day. It's been incredibly effective, helping with lochia and constipation within a few days. Confinement water is truly amazing. I think it's okay to skip the confinement meals, but confinement water is essential. My friend booked a place with another confinement care center, and we share photos of our meals every day. I still think the food at my place is better. There are some unique side dishes, like eight-treasure red bean paste, four-ingredient egg soup, cassava and taro balls (my favorite), and papaya and bird's nest.

I also love the toilet in the bathroom. It's fully automatic, uses hot water to cleanse lochia, and can adjust the angle, water pressure, and drying time. I'm really tempted to get one when I get home.

The confinement caregivers at the confinement care center are all very professional, especially Aunt Yuan, who works the day shift. I love her so much. Auntie Yuan is incredibly nice and incredibly skilled at baby care, from changing diapers and burping to cleaning the umbilical cord and skin care. My baby kept crying when I was doing it myself, which was incredibly frustrating. She's truly the most professional confinement nanny I've ever met. I also asked the owner about accompanying her during childbirth and getting documents for my baby back home, and she was very professional in her answers.

Overall, my group, along with other mothers from China and Argentina, were all very satisfied. Finding a confinement care center in such a faraway place is truly challenging, and I hope my new shop opens soon.
