A letter of commendation to Aunt Meng, a gold-medal postpartum caregiver fr
-
I am a father living in Palo Alto, in the East Bay of San Francisco. My family welcomed a healthy baby boy weighing 6 pounds and 9 ounces on August 3rd, 2025, at 4:59 PM. On July 4th, Auntie Meng, our postpartum caregiver, arrived as scheduled to care for my wife and child during the postpartum period. During these 26 days, her professionalism and dedication deeply impressed me and my family. I would like to express my gratitude to her on behalf of my entire family and provide my personal evaluation of her work for your reference.
We selected Auntie Meng as our postpartum caregiver after multiple rounds of interviews on May 23rd, 2025, and signed a formal service contract with her agency in the United States. She was initially scheduled to start around June 23rd, 2025 (the due date), but because the baby was late, she patiently waited 10 days until the baby was successfully delivered naturally on July 3rd. She did not request a change of employer and arrived at our home on July 4th to provide postpartum care.
>Strong Sense of Time Management
Considering the need for a smooth transition between my wife and child's discharge from the hospital and the arrival of the postpartum caregiver, I notified Ms. Meng's company in advance. She arrived at our building ahead of time and waited for us to return from the hospital, ensuring a seamless transition of care from the hospital to home.
>For the Mother
Since this was the mother's first child and she was anxious about everything, Ms. Meng patiently communicated with her, helping to alleviate her psychological concerns and effectively managing her postpartum depression. She also provided regular lactation care and massage (the mother experienced blocked milk ducts for a period, which significantly increased the difficulty and workload of the care).
>For the Baby
For the first few nights, Ms. Meng barely slept. Whenever the baby made a sound, she would immediately get up to care for him. The baby rarely cried due to discomfort other than hunger. After a period of care, the baby adapted well to Ms. Meng's care, and she could easily soothe him. After feeding, she would burp and massage the baby, and he would always fall asleep comfortably.
>For the elderly:
We understand the love and care that both sets of grandparents have for the baby. While maintaining strict supervision, we patiently explain and communicate, ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all people and objects that come into contact with the baby, effectively preventing the spread of bacteria, and patiently teaching the correct care methods.
>For the father:
I need to express my special gratitude to Aunt Meng. She helped me resolve several arguments with my wife (my wife's temperament changed significantly after childbirth, perhaps it was an early sign of postpartum depression), preventing me from becoming "depressed" myself. She also provided excellent advice on the quality and selection of ingredients for postpartum meals and baby feeding equipment, saving me from unnecessary repetitive work.
I must specifically mention that when the baby was suspected of having a blocked tear duct causing excessive eye discharge three days after birth, we drove to the Children's Hospital twice for examinations. Despite Aunt Meng's congenital motion sickness, she insisted on accompanying us. Near the hospital, due to severe motion sickness, she got out of the car and ran to the hospital to accompany the baby for the examination. Afterwards, she took the subway back to our home. I was deeply moved by her dedication.
>新婴儿护理能够做好日常护理记录,针对宝妈产奶中途出现堵塞的问题,一边帮助宝妈按摩治疗,同时进行适当奶粉搭配保证宝宝的哺育,并对奶粉可能过敏等症状进行跟踪,针对母乳和奶粉采取不同方案哺育宝宝;
>对于宝宝的生理性黄疸能够准确判定并及时采取措施控制,通过婴儿适当饮水进行调节促进宝宝的新陈代谢,顺利的度过黄疸期;通过定时做好宝宝的肚脐清理,宝宝卫生护理等日常工作,避免肚脐的感染和红屁股等现象发生;
>针对宝妈月子餐配菜做到有层次搭配,遇到问题有针对性调节月子餐,例如对于宝妈乳房堵塞采取调整月子餐结构以避免问题严重; >对宝妈身体恢复进行日常的按摩和抚乳等措施帮助进行身体恢复,对于宝妈哺乳姿势、哺乳后婴儿按摩、婴儿洗澡等正确的方法能够耐心讲解,帮助纠正;针对宝妈 产后抑郁能够积极沟通,做好心理开导工作;
>对宝宝出现的鼻泪管堵塞、肚脐脱落前防感染、湿疹预防、睡眠不安等症状做到及时发现提醒,给出解决建议,避免的宝宝症状的进一步恶化;
>孟阿姨除了月子护理之外,由于在育儿方面很有经验,所以在早期对于每个阶段育儿方面给出了很多专业建议,例如窗铃有助与锻炼宝宝的追视能力,踏琴有助于宝宝四肢成长、摇铃与锻炼宝宝的抓握能力、黑白卡有助帮助宝宝的大脑等;
>The newborn care service provides detailed daily care records. For mothers experiencing blocked milk ducts, the caregiver provides massage therapy while simultaneously ensuring the baby receives adequate nutrition through appropriate formula supplementation. They also monitor for potential formula allergies and adapt feeding plans based on whether the baby is breastfed or formula-fed.
>The caregiver accurately identifies and manages physiological jaundice in newborns, promoting metabolism through appropriate hydration to help the baby successfully overcome this period. They also perform regular umbilical cord cleaning and other daily hygiene tasks to prevent umbilical infections and diaper rash.
>The caregiver prepares postpartum meals with a balanced and varied menu, adjusting the meals as needed. For example, they modify the diet to address blocked milk ducts and prevent further complications.
>They assist with the mother's physical recovery through daily massages and breast care. They patiently explain and correct proper breastfeeding positions, infant massage techniques after feeding, and bathing procedures. They also provide emotional support and guidance to mothers experiencing postpartum depression.
>The caregiver promptly identifies and addresses issues such as blocked tear ducts, umbilical cord infection prevention before detachment, eczema prevention, and sleep disturbances, providing solutions to prevent further complications.
>In addition to postpartum care, Aunt Meng, due to her extensive experience in childcare, provides many professional suggestions for each stage of infant development. For example, she suggests using wind chimes to improve the baby's tracking ability, a foot piano to promote limb development, rattles to enhance grasping skills, and black and white cards to stimulate brain development.
>Aunt Meng is very communicative and gets along well with my family. She patiently explains any conflicting views or professional differences regarding care practices. She maintains her professional principles regarding the baby's healthy development while also seeking my and my family's opinions. I personally appreciate this aspect of her approach; maintaining her professional opinion is, I believe, the original intention of hiring a postpartum caregiver.
>产后护理专业知识过硬,又有丰富的育儿经验,实践经验较多;
>具有基本初级产妇医学知识,对新生儿可能出现问题具有很好的预见性,能给出较好的解决方案;
>职业操守高,性格开朗,善于沟通有助于缓解宝妈产后抑郁情绪;
Although Aunt Meng only spent a short month with us, she treated our baby like her own grandchild, providing exceptionally meticulous and patient care. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Aunt Meng and highly recommend her to expectant parents for the following reasons:
* She possesses excellent professional knowledge in postpartum care and has extensive experience in childcare, with plenty of practical experience;
* She has basic medical knowledge related to postpartum mothers and can anticipate potential problems in newborns, offering effective solutions;
* She has high professional ethics, a cheerful personality, and excellent communication skills, which helps alleviate postpartum depression in mothers.
